Is it too late for a Miracle?
Is it too late for a Miracle?
Devotional
6/30/2020
“I am the LORD, the God
of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27
Miracles
are real and are an active part of our faith, Many people today are familiar with miracles in
the Bible — the parting of a sea, water turned to wine, and, most frequently in
the New Testament, healing, even of blindness, leprosy, and the reversal of
recent death.
Vice
President Joe Biden stated “there are no miracles coming”(Covid 19) It’s
tragic when doubt and fear has made us so calloused to even believe that God is
capable of miracles.
We
serve a miracle working God who shows His majesty and power in ways most of us
think is impossible. Many of us have seen the miracles of God work
in our lives, recovering from a fatal accident, healing from a terminal
illness, comeback from financial ruin, Within the realm of impossibilities
we see God working and saving us in our hour of need. The miraculous
power of God leads us, protects us, delivers us, and save us.
Psalms 37:39 says: The
Lord rescues the Godly, he is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord
rescues the Godly. Our God has the power to save, to deliver, to rescue.
In
the story of the death of Lazarus, Martha criticizes Jesus for not coming
sooner, her doubt shaped her lack of faith. Notice John
11:17 17 On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had
already been in the tomb for four days. 18 Now
Bethany was less than two miles[b] from Jerusalem, 19 and
many Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their
brother. 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was
coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at
home. 21 “Lord,” Martha said to
Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But
I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” 23 Jesus
said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha
answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last
day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I
am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me
will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever
lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Miracles can happen in
your life because wants to reveal himself to you.

Alternative to Prayer? Faith and the Inner Self
Alternative to
Prayer?
Faith and the Inner
Self
In our
desire to pursue inner peace and wholeness many times we seek to find answers
outside of God’s spiritual serenity. As a result, we find ourselves,
following different theories within the field of
psychology. The study of psychology has its own merits but is
limited in teaching about our inner spirit. Psychology begins with a
basic premise, if we ask enough questions of the client, they will find the
answer within themselves.
God’s
approach is to give the answers “Call unto me and I will answer thee and show
you great and mighty things which you cannot even comprehend” Jeremiah 33:3 “
While
teaching college psychology I learned some interesting theories about human
behavior. There were times however, some therapeutic strategies made
little or no sense. One of them is the empty chair
therapy a technique of Gestalt therapy. It was a method in
which the client confronts their feelings towards someone who has hurt,
shamed, criticized, or angered them. He or she is asked
to imagine that someone (such as a boss, spouse, child, or relative), are sitting
in the empty chair. They speak openly to the empty chair releasing
their feelings of anger, disgust, shame, or bitterness. This tension
releasing experience is supposed to help the client with issues such as
anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and even physical
ones like migraine headaches, ulcerative colitis, and back
spasms. Look at God’s approach to finding hope and inner peace,
which goes beyond an empty chair and into an open heart.
Galatians
6:1 Share one another’s burden’s… Brothers, if anyone is
caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him
in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be
tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so
fulfill the law of Christ
While
Gestalt (empty chair therapy) may be unique, wouldn’t be easier to pray
to God then scream at an empty chair? Prayer is the positive
energy which comes from God, Prayer is the place where I can learn to forgive,
heal and find hope.
Christians
have a wonderful experience when following God’s concept rather than man’s
notions. The book of Ephesians says “Put off your old self, which
belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires,
and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new (inner)
self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Therefore, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are
members one of another. Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on
your anger”
Psychology
probes the weakness of the inner self such fear, frustration and anxiety and
tries force the individual to confront these feelings. God probes the strength of the inner
being and offers solutions and a promise of strength and courage. Grab
the Bible today it may surprise you what answers God has in store for
you
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound
in hope” Romans 15:33

Prayer when we need it most devotional Country Church Chronicles
The Power of Prayer:
Country Chronicles a Devotional June 26,2020
“God is great, God is Good” The words have become so familiar we say them without thinking, we fail to see the profound truth they hold. For without God’s greatness in our world, the world becomes an immoral junkyard of depravity and hatred.
Christians we need you to stand by your faith and believe that God is still in control. The classic call for today is ….” socially distance” it’s OK to socially distance but it’s not OK to Socially Abandon” We still need each other communicating face to face, sharing, and caring and helping others in their time of need. We need to be able to practice our faith. How can we as Christian practice the Golden Rule “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and still be safe by committing to our spiritual responsibility? One of the greatest opportunities that we have, is to improve our prayer life. It may be OK for some to socially distance from church but it is not OK to spiritually distance from our prayer life.
The perfect means to communicate to God is through prayer. It is the power of prayer that gives us influence with God. It was the simple publican in the temple who said God be merciful to me a sinner and Jesus said he went away justified. My favorite prayer comes from the book of psalms “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved” (Psalms 46) What a beautiful prayer in the midst of protest, persecution, and a pandemic.
Prayer unifies us and gives us hope. We waste our lives away, worrying and missing the comforting power of Prayer. Many of us have the proof that prayer works in your lives. Each of us have personal experiences in which God answered our prayers. God heard our prayer in our moment of despair and answered us. God is in control and hears our prayer. Prayer is alive and comes from the heart of God to you. Open your line of communication with God. Power belongs to you, O God, and with you. The Lord, is unfailing in His love Psalms 62:11
We pray for you daily and if you would like to talk about your relationship with God or if you are in the middle of fear and frustration, Lets talk. Pastor Al Fernandez supreme1955@yahoo.com Please continue to support your church, God Bless you.

A Time for Love and Laughter
A Time for Love and Laughter
(Devotional June 17, 2020)
(Part 2)
According to a study out of the University of Chicago, Americans are the unhappiest in 50 years. Isolation, distancing, and financial hardships have led to the unhappiness in America (50 % to 23% decline) (University of Chicago 2020)
So as Christians what do we have to offer to an anxious and isolated country? The scriptures say Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus joy first day until now. 6 I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you[b] will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:2-6
In these passages what is God trying to say to you? Joy is the central word and what does it really mean? The Bible has 15 different words in Hebrew (OT) to describe Joy and 8 different words in Greek (NT) to describe Joy. Afterall the word joy is mentioned 155 times. The word joy, happiness and laughter can be synonymous, moreover, how much of our time is spent just trying to be happy?
Love and laughter bring us together with our family at home.
“Home is an emotional state, a place in the imagination where feelings of security, belonging, placement, family, protection, memory and personal history abide. -Thomas Moore”
As children, we used to laugh hundreds of times a day, but as adults, life tends to be more serious and laughter more infrequent. But by seeking out more opportunities for love and laughter, we can improve our emotional health, strengthen our relationships, find greater happiness—and even add years to your life.

God has a plan in all the Turbulence of our Day
God has a plan in all the Turbulence of our Day.
“11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.— Jeremiah 29:11
What an incredible verse with promise for today’s Christian, in sickness, in despair, in financial and physical loss and in every trial, God has an abiding promise to prosper us and give us hope in our future.
God’s word is relevant to whatever the need, whatever the crisis we should rest in God’s ever abiding message. One passage that I have carried with me since my Pastor wrote in my Bible cover. Job 23:10 HE KNOWS THE WAY THAT I TAKE AND WHEN HE HAS TRIED ME, I WILL COME FORTH AS GOLD. Pastor Arno Q. Weniger is in heaven now and this passage carried him through his ministry when his wife contracted M. S. Multiple sclerosis at age 24 as he nursed and cared for her in his ministry until she died at such a young age. Despite this personal challenge he built, with God’s help a church of over 1500 members. Pastor Weniger died alone never to share with his wife Marilyn the success of their ministry. God had a plan for he and Marilyn but many of us could not see it, why? because we could not see it through the eyes of faith.
Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another. “Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called! I am he; I am the first, and I am the last. My hand laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand forth together. “Assemble, all of you, and listen! Who among them has declared these things? The Lord loves him; he shall perform his purpose Isaiah 48:10- 51:7

Crisis and protest what should Christians do? Devotional for June 4,2020
Crisis and protest what should Christians do?
Devotional for June 4,2020
I am proud of the
protest! I hated the destruction as a means to loot and steal! (Stated by
Terrance Floyd brother of George Floyd). My brother is not a prop to
justify destruction and hatred. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and
clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to
one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ
forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32
Someone said
Christians should not stand by or look away, when they feel hurt or see others
hurt unjustly. As Christians, we ask ourselves what should I
do? Should I grab a sign take to the streets, protest injustice, write
letters to politicians, or say a prayer. In our hearts as Christians,
where do we start? We lead with prayer and promote peace and justice.
This Word rings true from the book of Romans 12:17-21 Repay
no one evil for evil but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight
of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on
you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never
avenge yourselves, but leave it[a] to
the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,
says the Lord.” 20 To the contrary, “if your enemy is
hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so
doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not
be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
We have often heard the words “What would Jesus do?” this question
was addressed in the book In His Steps by Charles M.
Sheldon. The goal of the book, when faced with crisis and injustice was
to ask this question of ourselves, “What would Jesus do?”. Looking at the
events of the crucifixion of Jesus, we have the answer “What did Jesus
do?” How did Jesus handle protest and protesters?
In the night in which he was
betray by his own (Judas Iscariot) Jesus did not show hatred or bitterness.
When he was betrayed with a kiss, he did not curse Judas, but
rather went peacefully. When Peter protested, pulled a sword, and
cut off the ear of one of the soldiers, he rejected Peter’s impulse to fight
back. Instead He picked up the ear and healed the soldier right on
the spot. Jesus did not claim conspiracy or shout threats, he went with
his accusers. When Jesus was crucified, he said, Father forgive
them for they know not what they do. This is the example of
Jesus during the crisis and even his very own death. Protest has its
place but let us try to follow the example of Jesus, the next time we have the
impulsive to protest or seek revenge. The scripture powerfully
states, bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse
them. 15 Rejoice
with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live
in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty but associate with the
lowly. Romans 12:13-16 Jesus by His example is showing us how to protest in peace, I
admit this is the most difficult type of peace and justice to follow, but in
our spirit of love we are given power to overcome even the worst of
situations Pray for the peace of this nation.

What is Perceived and what is Believed: Riots, Recklessness and Righteousness
What is Perceived and what is Believed:
Riots Recklessness and Righteousness
5/31/20
Some things in life are not
easy to sort out. when it comes to justice and injustice. The recent
death of George Floyd and the ensuing riots, reminded me, of my own experience
as a young teenager in high school where I faced two tragic race riots.
It is a tragedy to have to face the hate, bitterness, and destruction from
these violent forces. Some perceived this violent outburst to be just but in
the minds of most innocence bystander these riots are unjust. .
Believe or not the Bible has
over 15 incidents of riots and injustice by unruly mobs. Let’s look
at:
“And all the people in the
synagogue were filled with rage as they heard these things; and they got up and drove Him out of the city, and led Him to the
brow of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw Him down
the cliff. But passing through their midst, He went His
way. Luke 4:28-30” Was this just or unjust? This
was an incident of a mob action who perceived that Jesus was discriminating
against their ancient Jewish beliefs.
It
is never easy to take a serious incident like our national race riots and
attempt to relate it to the Bible. Sometimes preacher can interject their
opinions and fail to preach it in a truly just manner. However, God is
never absent from any of our crisis in life. What does God
genuinely want from us peaceful demonstrations heartfelt apologies or
angry protests, hateful rhetoric, and looting and burning,
One young man in Minnesota, was asked why resort to looting? he said I am
getting mine and besides this is not theft or looting this is predatory
lending!
Eccl. 3:16 Furthermore, I have seen under the
sun that in the place of justice there is wickedness and in the place of
righteousness there is wickedness.
I do not agree with the
incident surrounding the tragic death of George Floyd that ignited hated,
bitterness and looting. I will say it again this man did not have to die
and many of us mourn his loss. I am sure that retaliation against
innocent people is not right. I am not sure that I can ever comprehend
the ransacking and burning police precinct’s and stores, stealing TVs and
designer handbags in the name of justice.
Whoever has the greatest
influence in your life will have the greatest impact in what you do and how you
behave. When things get tough and we are forced to response to a “social
justice crisis” Who do you form alliance with and what are your intentions?
Some of us get involved in well indented crusades for a good cause, but deep
within our inner being we hope to see change.
Romans 5:2-7 through whom we have gained access by faith
into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the
glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings,
because we know that suffering produces perseverance. Perseverance,
character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because
God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has
been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still
powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a
righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
Gal
6:9 “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the
flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit
will reap eternal life.”
When
Causes/Crusades become Chaos:
The
death of Jesus was incited by Jewish leaders who felt discriminated against and
asked for his death and they convinced an unruly mob to violent action.
Matthew
27 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask
for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.21 “Which of the two do
you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. Barabbas,” they answered.22 “What
shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked,
they all answered, “Crucify him!” 23 “Why? What crime has
he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify
him!” 24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but
that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his
hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he
said. “It is your responsibility!” In this incident the mob was
influenced by outside sources to Crucify and perfect and just man.
Chaos causes confusion and
separates us from our faith and our trust in God.
I
Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of
confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
The things that happen every day in our lives can be chaotic and confusing. We
all need direction, but as Christians we can rest assure that the Holy Spirit
is living inside of us and He is able to guide us and keep our mind at ease. We can
be stricken by emotions on both sides that can cause us to lash out, but as
Christians we should we find our peace and hope.
My heart goes back to a funeral
of Jane Hughes, I see the personal injustice of losing this beautiful lady. The
loss of Jane Hughes to this community was sad, many said she gave so much to
Effingham County; she was a gentle and graceful woman who spoke not in words
but in action, actions of love and compassion. The idiom to know
her was to love her was so true of Jane. Her son Tripp said he does
not remember in his lifetime that Jane ever argued or said hateful things to
any of them. Jane is an unheralded loss to all of us. Many may not
have known her, but she was a woman who was consistent in business and in
life. In my heart I sense an injustice because so many of us could have
gained so much from her life and her spirit. Today the question is who among
you will stand up and be a replacement here on earth.
Does
not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth I Corinthians
3:16
I Peter
1:3-6 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great
mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of
Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish,
spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through
faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is
ready to be revealed in the last time.
In all this you greatly rejoice, though now
for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

Playing the Blame Game Devotional May 28, 2020
Playing the Blame Game
Devotional May 28, 2020
Whose fault is it anyway? When things don't go the way we expect, we are quick to blame others or even our current circumstance for our problems. Unfortunately, when we blame others, we eliminate the possibility of change. Playing the blame game is as old as Adam and Eve The Adam said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Genesis 3:12-13
The Blame game never has any winners and only leads to negative thinking here are some examples ; people did us wrong, the company laid us off, my business didn’t make it, I couldn’t get the testing I needed, there wasn’t enough medical supplies during this pandemic . It's easy to go through life blaming others, blaming ourselves, even blaming God, because we're always looking back, reliving the negative, we end up carrying around all this baggage that weighs our faith down.
We will not live a victorious life if we always recall what did not work out, or who hurt us. I often wonder why we shift blame, maybe in part out of guilt, shame, bitterness or even pride. Notice the bitterness Job’s wife harbored as she watched Job deteriorate from his mysterious and incurable disease “Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!” Job 2:9
Martha blamed Jesus for the death of her brother Lazarus in John 11:21 Martha then said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.
We should not have the “Poor old me, look what I've been through" attitude. I've heard it said you can be pitiful or you can be powerful, but you cannot be both, and you may have made a lot of mistakes, you have a lot of regrets, you blew your marriage, didn't raise your children right, but you can't do anything about yesterday. When we blame others, we avoid taking responsibility for our actions and when we do that, we will never grow. and when we blame God, we see Him incorrectly and we fail to see Him for who He really is-a loving God whose desire is to see us stop blaming and start living a blameless life.
Blame often shuts down the opportunity to see faith conquer the impossible. There is a new beginning in front of you, but God will not release new opportunities if we are holding on to negative things in your past. We are not defined by our past; we are prepared by our past. We may not realize it, but we will come out stronger, with more confidence, greater experience. If this event had not have happened, we would not be prepared for the new heights that are coming your way.
